PPCT DISRUPTIVE STUDENT MANAGEMENT

The 1990’s may be remembered in history as the decade of school violence.  Violence against fellow students and faculty has now reached levels previously unknown to the educational field.  Why student violence has increased to current levels is being studied by experts from many different fields.  But until researchers find a mechanism to prevent violence as we know it, teachers are faced with the occasional need to control the “act” of violence against another student or an assault against the teacher.

The PPCT Disruptive Student Management Course was designed to control the “physical actions” of student violence. This course will not explore the psychology of violence, socioeconomic or family issues that lead to violence. Instead, the course is focused on “controlling” actions of physical violence directed at another student or a teacher.
PPCT defines the term “control” in the sense of “select techniques designed to manage or contain aggression and physical actions of violence”.  However, the control techniques must meet a standard based on the following components.

1. The control techniques would be considered reasonable by teachers, administrators, parents and the courts.
2. The control techniques have minimal probability for student injury.
3. The control techniques have the capacity to be learned quickly, preferably within 5 minutes.
4. The control techniques must be effective, despite the size or strength of a teacher.

Since 1980, PPCT Management Systems has been a leader in developing subject control training for criminal justice officers, juvenile detention facilities, correctional facilities, health care professionals and Federal government employees needing personal protection training.

Having trained over 40,000 instructors throughout the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Hong Kong and Australia, PPCT’s success is based on a comprehensive design methodology.  This methodology has created training systems that have been proven to be effective in the field, can be leaned quickly, and can be defended in court.
In developing the Disruptive Student Management Course, PPCT followed a design methodology that is customized for the education profession and is founded on tactical, motor learning and medical research.
